Medical-Surgical Nursing · Chapter 10

Who Do You See First?

The oncologic emergencies are quiet at onset and lethal by the end of the shift, and the first action is what separates a safe nurse from an unsafe one. Rank each four-patient board 1 to 4, then read the rule that actually decided it — ABC first, then unstable over stable, then acute over chronic, then actual over potential. Below, run a vesicant extravasation through the cold-versus-warm decision, where getting it backwards worsens the injury.
