The Insulin Clock and the Mechanism Sort

Every insulin question reduces to a timeline: if you know when the drug peaks, you know when the patient will crash, when the tray must be in front of them and when to schedule the fingerstick. Put a real dose time on the clock and watch the hypoglycaemia window land. Then sort the non-insulin agents by mechanism, because mechanism — not the drug name — is what tells you whether an agent can drop a sugar at all.

Set up the problem

Patient is a 68 kg adult with type 1 diabetes. Move the dose time and watch the peak walk across the clock — that peak is where you put the fingerstick.
