The Intergroup Spectrum: Genocide to Pluralism

When a dominant group and a minority group share a territory, sociology finds a limited menu of outcomes — and they line up on a continuum. At one end the minority is destroyed. At the other it is kept, whole and equal. In between sit expulsion, segregation, assimilation, and amalgamation. Slide the spectrum to see what each arrangement does to the groups, read it through the three paradigms, then place twelve real cases on the scale.
