Simplifications: every fork moves at one steady speed and forks never stall; origins are evenly spaced. "All at once" gives the minimum time t = G / (2 n v). "Staggered" fires origins at random times over a window and lets late origins be copied passively, like dormant origins. When there are more than 24 origins, the lane shows a window of 24 neighbouring replicons; every replicon behaves the same way. Okazaki fragments are estimated as genome size divided by fragment length; primers add 2 per fired origin for the leading strands. Real S phases are longer because origins fire in a timed program.
Simplifications: one homolog pair with flanking markers A/a and B/b and a middle marker D/d. In the Holliday model the heteroduplex runs from the nick to the junction. In the double-strand break repair model this drawing shows heteroduplex on both duplexes between the two junctions and ignores the short gap-repair stretch. Real resolution also involves dissolution and SDSA, which always give non-crossovers.
Problems are randomly generated. Type numbers as plain decimals (0.0625), fractions (1/16), percents (6.25%) or scientific notation (4.6e-4 or 4.6 x 10^-4). Units are optional. Answers within about 2% are accepted unless the problem asks for a whole number.
