Dr. Garg Learning

Anatomy & Physiology

explained plainly, learned by doing

Everything for both halves of anatomy and physiology sits on this page. Read a section in short, clear words, then take the same idea apart in an interactive. Drill it, then test yourself.

by Dr. Akash Garg

🧠 Two halves, one book. Chapters 1 to 15 are the usual first-semester run. Chapters 16 to 28 are the second. Every section of every chapter has its own interactive built right into the page.

Chapters 1 to 15

The First Half

1An Introduction to the Human BodyStart here. How the body is built up from atoms to a whole person, the eleven organ systems, and the words that say where a part sits. 2The Chemical Level of OrganizationThe chemistry you need. Atoms, bonds, water, pH, and the four kinds of building block that make up every cell. 3The Cellular Level of OrganizationInside the cell. The membrane, how things cross it, what each organelle does, how proteins get made, and how a cell divides. 4The Tissue Level of OrganizationThe four tissue types. Epithelial, connective, muscle and nervous tissue, what each one is for, and how a wound heals. 5The Integumentary SystemSkin. The layers, what gives skin its color, hair and nails and glands, what skin does for you, and burns and skin cancer. 6Bone Tissue & the Skeletal SystemBone as a living tissue. Bone shapes, the parts of a long bone, how bone rebuilds itself, calcium balance, and fractures. 7The Axial SkeletonThe bones down the middle. The skull, the spine and its curves, and the rib cage. 8The Appendicular SkeletonThe bones of the limbs. The shoulder and hip girdles, the arm and hand, and the leg and foot. 9JointsJoints. How joints are classed, what a synovial joint is made of, and every movement a joint allows. 10Muscle TissueHow muscle works. The sarcomere, the sliding filament idea, the nerve-muscle junction, and the three fiber types. 11The Muscular SystemThe muscles themselves. How muscles work in teams, how they are named, and the major groups head to toe. 12The Nervous System & Nervous TissueNerve tissue. The glial cells, the resting and action potential, how a signal travels, and what happens at a synapse. 13Anatomy of the Nervous SystemThe nervous system laid out. The lobes, the brain regions, the ventricles and fluid, the meninges, the cord, and the cranial nerves. 14The Somatic Nervous SystemSensing and reacting. Sensory receptors, the eye and the ear, taste and smell, and the reflex arc. 15The Autonomic Nervous SystemThe automatic side. Sympathetic against parasympathetic, the pathways, the chemicals they use, and the reflexes they run.

The glands, how a hormone acts on a cell, the pituitary, thyroid and adrenal axes, and blood sugar control. 18The Cardiovascular System: BloodBlood. What blood is made of, the cells and platelets, where they come from, how oxygen rides, and how clotting works. 19The Cardiovascular System: The HeartThe heart. 📚 New here? How to work through a chapter›

Each part of this library covers the same body a different way. Mix them however suits you.

  1. Read the chapter in The Book. Stop at each interactive and really move the controls.
  2. Work the check-yourself items at the end of the chapter before you look at any answer.
  3. Run that chapter deck in Flashcards until the reasons come easily, not just the names.
  4. Before an exam, read its Study Guide and sketch the pathways again from memory.
  5. Finish with the Exam Bank and a round of The Chase. Read every rationale, even when you were right.

The long chapters reward a second pass. Come back to an interactive a day later and see if you can predict what it will do before you touch it.
