Feeding, Mood and Going Home: the Fourth Trimester Bench

The fourth trimester is nursing work. Separate a bilateral day-3 engorgement from a unilateral wedge of mastitis and get the one piece of advice right that is most often got wrong. Work out from nappies and weight whether the baby is actually getting enough. Then triage a mood — blues, depression and psychosis are not points on one line — verify a couplet’s medication orders against lactation, and sort the alarms and the contraception she goes home with.
