The Finding Forge

Before you open a charting tool, write the sentence you want your reader to repeat to someone else tomorrow. Build that sentence here, one clause at a time, from a real year of fall data. Then watch a colleague try to repeat it back — the readback is only ever as good as the clauses you chose.

Pick one option in each slot. Every choice is defensible English; only some of them are findings.

Forty-two events, all year. Hold that number in mind while you choose. It is the reason the strongest version of this finding still needs a caveat riding along behind it.
